Among its historical founders are nobilities like Rakoczi, Grassalkovich, Orczy and Karolyi families. Its fame is based on the glass-works, built in 1767 by the Orczy family, which is still in full operation, and on the medicinal water "Parádi".

...the castle: at the village`s gate, in the centre of a 2,5 hectare park surrounded by rare trees and pines, consisting of three parts, connected by an overhead-passage, built in 1827, rebuilt by Miklós Ybl commissioned by the Karolyies in 1882, in new renaissance style.
